Mike Perry Free Breakdown
Perry brings enormous power on the toes and a durable way to adopt brawls. He can be outmanoeuvred by technical boxers but contrary to the likes of Ponzinibbio, a top rated aggressive striker for the branch, he was very competitive. Perry is strong from the clinch but his takedown defense is still unproven against a valid grappler. Cowboy could harness the ground game as he’s underrated wrestling, but he tends to fight with inconsistent gameplans. Getting sucked into brawls is a common issue and here against Perry that could be a big mistake. He has big power himself but both men are quite hittable. On the toes it likely favours Perry, at least to the first half of the struggle when he is most dangerous. Start Looking for a back and on war, with all the durability of Perry which makes the gap — as both guys absorb serious damage.Andrei Arlovski Breakdown
Arlovski is on a 3 fight losing streak but has been competitive in most fights going way back to his KO loss to Ngannou. In 40 years old he brings a not as aggressive style these days that has lead to six sequential decisions. His output seems to be slowing but his precise boxing style remains, allowing him to function behind a jab against slower competitions. Sakai is much younger so could still be advancing, but so far has failed to impress. He’s large and yells powerful yet slow singular strikes, with reduced quantity. Mostly a fighter, Arlovski will not need to worry about too many different weapons.
This is very likely to be a slow struggle with the more effective striker coming out on top. Look for Arlovski to prevent exchanges and poke Sakai from the outside or use his wrestling to hold him against the fence. If he can avoid getting caught a decision here is likely for the underdog.
Bet = Arlovski at 2.30 (+130) chances. Risk 3 Units to win 3.90 Units.
Virna Jandiroba Breakdown
Jandiroba is a severe BJJ blackbelt which makes her UFC debut with a 14-0 record. She has jiu-jitsu wins over both Claudia Gadelha and Amanda Nunes. Whilst restricted with striking, she is constant with takedowns and has a wide array of techniques to get conflicts to the floor. On top she is quite strong, maintaining control and attacking subs. This is obviously a massive step up in competition by Invicta against Esparza, a true veteran. Carla is on a losing streak against fellow grapplers and hasn’t displayed great takedown defense to match her offensive wrestling abilities. She’d be best to attempt to keep this fight standing where her improved striking should have the ability to edge out quantity.
Jandiroba isn’t shown at this level but looks to be the real deal, demonstrating exceptional method and composure. Worst case situation Esparza can defend her off back and make scrambles to induce striking exchanges, taking us to a close decision. A better position is Jandiroba dominating with her high control and procuring a unanimous decision or finding a submission. An Esparza end is very unlikely. Given the odds and respective paths to success, a shot to the newcomer at money is good value.
