Pep Guardiola Claims Raheem Sterling Hasn’t yet Attained the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Sterling has started the new season in sensational form, scoring eight goals in seven matches for Manchester City and England.
England director Gareth Southgate considers the 24-year-old has the potential become the best footballer in the world and to overtake Ronaldo and Messi.
But, Guardiola has advocated those comparisons to be ignored by Sterling.
«Hopefully he cannot read a lot of listen to these kind of things, it would be good for him,» said Guardiola, before Saturday’s trip to Norwich — live on Sky Sports.
«Nobody can compare with Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi.»
Sterling scored one and set up as England beat Kosovo 5-3 at St Mary’s on Saturday.
The former Liverpool winger has managed six goals in as many matches for England from 2019 and Guardiola is pleased to see his player shine on the global stage.
«I’m so satisfied with what he has been performing since we have been together,» said Guardiola.
«Everything that has happened to him is great because he’s got an unbelievable work ethic and he’s a remarkably great guy.
«Each time that I understand that the situation is moving nicely, not just with us, but with the national group, his nation, I am thrilled.»
