Philadelphia Phillies +175
The group that made the biggest offseason splash the Phillies, by landing superstar Bryce Harper look to be on going this season and beyond, all-in. Outside of Harper, the Phillies were able to sign OF Andrew McCutchen and trade for SS Jean Segura and the best catcher in the Marketplace in J.T. Realmuto in the Marlins. Last year, the Phillies ranked 30th in hits and 29th in doubles and were in the lowest half of MLB in homers and RBIs so these improvements should surely move the needle to put more runs on the board, addressing what had been Philadelphia’s largest weakness last year.
Together with crime, this group should ruin divisional teams on paper along with Aaron Nola and Jake Arrieta’s punch will give teams fits but they will need to look after their games. Last seasonthey were there to make the playoffs but they ended in 76 games against NL East teams with a 36-40 SU listing. I really don’t anticipate a repeat of this record but this branch is much more competitive than a number of the other people in MLB since I don’t anticipate a team to come out of this branch and there is a margin for error.
