Grimsby will see Premier League giants Chelsea from the Carabao Cup next round after James McKeown’s penalty shoot-out heroics against Macclesfield.
Following the rearranged tie finished 0-0 after 90 29, mcKeown, named captain ahead of the eighth year rescued from Connor Kirby and Fraser Horsfall.
And his side’s reward is a trip to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, September 27.
Actual chances were far and few between in the opening 45 minutes — despite Macclesfield having a lot of the ball in areas that are central.
While Theo Archibald called house goalkeeper James McKeown connor Kirby and Miles Welch-Hayes fired broad midway through the first half.
With James Hanson, Ogbu linked-up neatly at the opposite end — however, the offender forward was not able to summon a finish to match.
Upon the restart, then control was presumed by the house side. Yet, opportunities were given up Matt Green, by Ogbu, and Hanson.
With childhood grad Max Wright also moving near making his mark after coming from the bench, elliott Whitehouse also dragged wide to the elongate.
