The NHL season is back in swing and a small part of games are up on the plank for Monday night. Two matches will be up on the board for October 7, such as a matchup between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Buffalo Sabres. Both of these teams have had reverse starts into the time, but the two will look to earn an early-season triumph on Monday night. This game will start tonight.
Buffalo has gotten off to a quick start to the year, going 2-0. The Sabres have connected for the second seed in the Atlantic Division together with the Detroit Red Wings along with the Boston Bruins. Buffalo didnt have a great season last season but would look to continue this powerful beginning to attempt to get to the postseason now around.
The Blue Jackets have fallen to start this year. Columbus is the only team without a point from the Metropolitan Division, so they need to discover a way to flip it around whenever they want to make it back to the postseason. The Blue Jackets lost lots of key players. It is still therefore Columbus will still look to flip around this poor beginning with a win at home on Monday.
The Blue Jackets and the Sabres finished last season, but have switched places this season. This shows the effects which NHL offseason can consume. Both teams have 80 matches but the two teams can use a big win on Monday night to try and get the momentum to the first areas of the year.
Columbus and buffalo fulfilled a year a total of 3 times . The Blue Jackets took the first game of the year 5-4 in overtime. As Conor Sheary play with the match winning goal in the third to give Buffalo a win, the match was a win by the Sabres. The match was sponsored by Buffalo in the summer, but Sergei Bobrovsky pitched a shutout to give a win to Columbus.
The Sabres have started this year off . Buffalo dominated the New Jersey Devils to a 7-2 win in their home opener. Rasmus Dahlin includes a goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Conor Sheary, Sam Reinhart, also victor Olofsson all lead the team.
The Blue Jackets began the period with a matchup from the Toronto Maple Leafs but fell 4-1. In which they have discounted 7-2, columbus met up with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Riley Nash leads the team in points with two assists on the season. Zach Werenski, Gustav Nyquist, along with cam Atkinson will be the 3 goal scorers for the Jackets on the season.
Buffalo has had a solid start to the season on their special teams. The Sabres have capitalized on a few of them and have experienced six power play opportunities. Buffalo was penalized seven days during the entire year, but have let one power play goal. The Sabres power play has been impressive, but it will not stay that powerful throughout this year.
Columbuss special teams has not been doing as well. The Blue Jackets have scored on one of the six power play opportunities. The penalty kill of columbus has allowed three goals. The Blue Jackets unique teams was dominated through the early part of this year, which makes me feel that they will make some modifications to try and get the two sides going.
I dont feel that will be what happens, although the Sabres power play has a opportunity to put up yet another strong outing from the punishment kill. I think Buffalos power play will probably come back down to ground sooner rather than later, Like I said. I presume that Columbus will create the changes that are essential to restrict the opportunities the Sabres get on Monday night.
Night carter Hutton will get the nod in net on Monday. Hutton has jumped into a 2-0 record this year. Hes 46 saves on 49 shots this season for a save percentage of .939 and a 1.50 GAA. Hutton completed having an 18-25-5 record last season. He previously had a .908 save percentage and a GAA of 3.00.
Joonas Korpisalo will begin inside this matchup for Columbus. Korpisalo began the first game of this season, where he allowed four goals on 29 shots in path to a percentage of .862. 20-7-3 was gone by joonas Korpisalo throughout season. He had a save percentage of .897 and a GAA of 2.95. This is the first time as a starter of Korpisalo, so it will be interesting to see how he does down the stretch.
Hutton had a solid start to last year but struggled as the Sabres began to struggle in the season. I think he will maintain the strong numbers, if Buffalo will continue to provide some powerful defense facing Hutton. He will look to bounce back to try and earn the first triumph of the Blue Jackets year old, although korpisalo had a tough beginning to the summer.
I believe that Columbus has got a great chance to make their first win of the year on Monday. I dont expect them to stay undefeated for long, although the Sabres have started 2-0 this season term. The Blue Jackets have taken a hit by Panarin, Bobrovsky, and Duchene departing, but I think they have a group. If some adjustments are made by Columbus I think they could get in the win column.
BetOnline has the Blue Jackets recorded as a -111 against the money line. This suggests that Columbus has the small advantage in this match. I think that with the Blue Jackets at home that this line is accurate. Since Columbus is slight favorites however, I think there is a good amount of value on the Blue Jackets.
